New member introducing myself

Good morning,

I have been unable to find details about my great grandfather's ancestry.  Per his his WWI CEF Attestation papers:  he signed his name as Joseph Arithur Williams, his place of birth New North, England, and his date of birth July 10, 1876 (per a family story, he changed his year of birth so he could be younger in order to join the war effort).

His father is George R Williams, carpenter, per his marriage certificate.  His mother is listed as not known, per his death certificate.

I have details of his life in Canada and family stories about his early life in England.  Any information about Joseph Arithur Williams is greatly appreciated.  I am also interested to know where New North, England is located.

Closest would be the Joseph Arthur registered in the 4th Quarter 1876, in Madeley, Shropshire, mother's maiden surname Pearce.
