Carmi Nelson Barrett (1883 - 1918) The Spanish Flu? A family broken…

Carmi was born in 1883. He was the son of Clark Barrett and Cornelia Phelps. He passed away in 1918.

Excerpt from obit reads “One son was born to them and the future promised much of happiness for the little family now broken by the loss of husband and father.”

It appears he most likely passed away due to the Spanish Flu? The wife recovered from the same illness. He was married and had one child. Need collaboration finding place of burial and death record.

Thank you

Note: what was the sons name? What happened to the boy? The mother Isabell remarried 22 Jun 1921; yet her new husband Erastus Pratt doesn’t have her as his wife on gravestone see his FindAGrave?

1918 Spanish Flu  pandemic is eerily similar to the 2020 and current Covid-19 pandemic which leaves many widows and orphans and lost loved ones!

Thank you Roger your such a big help when I get stuck on the research hill laugh

The 1920 census is a great snapshot of the life of the family after Carmi passed away. Isabelle is living at home (occupation cooking at home) with her mother Sarah who is also a widow listed as a domestic nurse for private families. Sarah Cameron father and mother’s birthplace is listed as Ireland! isabelle has birthplace of her mother Sarah as Canada and her father as New York!
Glad it helped.
