What are the origins of Elizabeth (McFerrin) Reveal (born about 1785 Frederick, Virginia)?

I am researching the family of my ancestor [[McFerrin-81|Elizabeth (McFerrin) Reveal (abt.1785-bef.1850)]].  Marriage records (see profile) potentially indicate her father as William McFerrin.  There is a difficulty, in that this William is listed in various genealogies as [[McFerrin-19|William McFerrin II (abt.1755-abt.1845)]], spouse of [[Laughlin-130|Jane Duncan (Laughlin) McFerrin (1764-abt.1813)]].  However, marriages and children don't match, and I believe these are separate Williams.  It is notable that Elizabeth (McFerrin) Reveal was married 21 January 1802 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, while [[McFerrin-104|Mary Ann (McFerrin) Ishmael (abt.1783-abt.1830)]], a daughter of William McFerrin II, also married in Nicholas County, Kentucky (on 21 June 1804) suggesting a close linkage between these families (although it could also be a coincidence or error).  Any help sorting all of this out would be greatly appreciated. -RSW

I think I assumed that the character in front of 'William' was an ampersand, as the phrase seems to say 'Know all men by these presents that one Thomas Reveale & William McFerrin are held and firmly bound..."  Also, the signature line says 'Will' and the 'J' in 'James' and 'January' have broader lower loops.  But thank-you, it is a bit ambiguous there, and I will look into the possibilities.
