Cannot find a birth record to confirm suggestion of "possible mother."

Amanda (Janes) Comings (Janes-1466) is a relative by marriage (her husband is my first cousin 4 times removed). Recently, a suggestion has popped up listing Clarissa (Fuller) Janes (Fuller-12554) as a possible mother, on the grounds that Findagrave says so.

I have searched high and low for a legitimate source to confirm this, but have not been able to find a birth record for Amanda with her mother's name on it. Nor any other source such as a marriage record with the parents' names, or even any of those "mentioned in the record of" items.

I have consulted every (free) site I could find via the Rootsearch link on Amanda's profile, and came up empty.

However... every site I've looked at online lists Amanda's parentage as fact, but none offer any sources to back this up.

Her father, Liberty Janes (Janes-1678) appears in the 1810 US Census but no other family members are listed. And none of the other available census records are at all helpful.

So I'm guessing that Amanda's parents are most likely Liberty and Clarissa Janes, but I can't prove it.

I commented on the suggestion as follows:  "More investigation needed; no birth record found confirming name of mother."

But of course this suggestion is going to continue to pop up as long as no proof is offered for Amanda's parentage. And just today I added a profile for Liberty Janes, and I expect this will elicit another suggestion.

I'd love to be able to make the suggestion(s) go away, but I don't want to label it a false suggestion because it probably isn't.

If anyone with better research superpowers than mine could come up with definitive proof of Amanda's parentage, I would be eternally grateful. Alternatively, does anyone have any suggestions for how to make that suggestion go away without labeling it false?  Thank you.

Carolyn:

There is a copy of the Will of Liberty James dated July 8, 1850, filed in Franklin County, Vermont.  It lists his daughter Amanda Comings.

Do you have access to ancestry.com?  If not, PM me and I will figure out how to email you copies.

Wow. Now that's what I call research superpowers! laugh

Thank you SO much for (a) finding that, and (b) offering to send me a copy. Please go ahead and do that (just a nice screenshot saved as either an image or a PDF) just so I can put it in my files. I can be reached at crankybeach at yahoo dot com. Meanwhile... I will use the link you provided (even though I can't actually access it myself as a non-member) as the source, and hook Amanda up to her rightful parents.

Again, THANK YOU! All you folks here are just amazing!

Carolyn:

Please look at your email and let me know if you got the will.  I am some trouble downloading it and I want to make sure it got through.  I think it did.

Yes, indeed it did. Twice. :) I have downloaded and saved both pages. Thank you SO much! :)
No worries.  I got lucky.
