I don't understand this Warning: 563 Wikidata - Possible duplicate by father  (Difficulty: Advanced) [closed]

Is it trying to suggest that Robert and his son Richard are the same person? There isn't any duplicates for either of these profiles. This error isn't making any sense at all to me.
WikiTree profile: Robert Molesworth
closed with the note: Precise explanation, cleared up by Ales. Thank you.

Check out this link and maybe it helps.

Thank you Scott.

Yep. Still doesn't shed light, for me at least, on what the error apparently is. I don't think there is a duplicate. Perhaps there is a mistake in the Wikidata. But I don't know anything about the Wikidata.
https://m.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7347739

I looked at the wikidata and I can't figure it out either.
Who does Wikidata belong to? Interesting page. Still can't find a problem though. I know he was born about 4 days after his father died. Oh well. Maybe I should just mark it as an error.
From my limited experience with these WikiData suggestions, I think the majority of the problems are at WikiData, not WikiTree, and they need to be corrected at WikiData, not WikiTree.

I consider this a backhanded/underhanded attempt to get WikiTreers to work at WikiData, a site with which most of us are unfamiliar and probably not interested in using.

These suggestions occur even without WikiData references having been added to the related profiles. These suggestions, in my opinion, should not be on our suggestions report when the profiles haven't been linked in an open fashion.

All linking has been done behind the scenes and without discussion or acceptance by WikiTree membership, at least as far as I know.

We should not be expected to have our volunteered time commandeered in this manner. Most of us did not join WikiData, and many of us likely wouldn't want to.
I agree with Lindy. WikiData seems to be getting worse and worse due to happy hackers doing bulk imports of unverified and often faulty data.
It really looks like you are correct Lindy. What ever this WikiData site is, it looks nice and fancy and all, but appears to not be helpful at all, in regard to creating errors that shouldn't exist.

The display of this suggestion on WT+ was only partial after the recent change of WT+ reports. I have now corrected it, so here it is as it was meant to be.

563 Wikidata - Possible duplicate by father Help (Difficulty: Advanced) Molesworth-131 Compare Sir Robert 1st Viscount Molesworth of Swords, co. Q75673780 John Phillips (Peerage person ID=283244) male

Core of the suggestion is Q75673780 - John Phillips. On WikiTree that profile has Molesworth-131 defined as the father and on WikiData the father is Q4301081 aka Molesworth-133

One possibility is that both fathers are duplicates thus the compare link. There are 2 more possibilities. Invalid parent on WikiTree and that should be corrected or invalid father on WikiData and in that  case, the Father link on Q75673780 should be corrected. If you ane not confortable editing wikidata, add a Suggestion comment clearly stating, that WikiData is in fault and the correct ID or a reason for not correcting it.

There is always a possibility of invalid "WikiTree Person ID" link on wikidata for either peofile.

I hope the explanation is clear now.

Thank you. This actually makes much more sense. John Phillips was added as an illigitimate child by someone else. I just accepted it at the time, because I didn't know any better. That would be very very interesting if the father was wrong, and the possibility is legitimate, and probably should be considered. Thank you heaps for this one Ales.

I have sent Ales a message to look at this Suggestion, as well as the other Wikidata suggestions for Letitia Coote-252, which indicates that her children are not linked to her in Wikidata, but they are 'today'.  Possibly 'someone' already corrected the problems at Wikidata and Ales' DD suggestions were created after the Wikidata corrections were made.

Tough to understand, hard to explain.

It appears to mean that his father's profile on wikidata has a link to Wikitree, which should be the same as the father connected on WikiTree.

Molesworth-131 (Sir Robert 1st Viscount Molesworth of Swords, co. Dublin and 1st Lord Molesworth, Baron of Philipstown, in King's County Molesworth P.C.) is connected as father on wikitree, but Molesworth-133 (Richard Field Marshal and 3rd Viscount Molesworth of Swords, co. Dublin and 3rd Lord Molesworth, Baron of Philipstown, in King's County of Swords Molesworth) is (or was) connected as father on wikidata.

The links to these were added to wikidata in August 2021.

This is an advanced suggestion, and it can be tricky. Above the suggestion, on the Edit page, you'll see a further link: [view on WikiTree+If you click on the link it shows you details of the two profiles that are being compared.  Many of them (including this one) conflate a father and his son. I am closing the suggestion by marking it False, so it won't appear anymore. Deb
