I’ve looked for many years and can’t seem to connect anyone to Ward-227, My 7th GGF. My Paternal Haplogroup my help, it’s R-S675. I do know Albemarle County, Va used to be Goochland County, Va until 1744. So maybe that’s the county he and his brother was from? Also there’s only three places known as Albemarle that I know of considering the time period: Albemarle County, Virginia; Albemarle, NC; Albemarle (Lost Colony) in the United States.

Major John Ward IV is my 6th great grandfather.  His parents were

- Col David Ward, Sr. , b. 1740 in Greenville County, VA and d. Jan 6, 1827.  Buried in Ward Cemetery, Wards Cove, Tazewell County, VA.

- Jane Cravens, b. 1745 in Augusta County, VA and d. 1791, buried Wards Cove, Tazewell County, VA (Near Maiden Spring, VA)

There are numerous sources I could point you to.  Given the WikiTree profile you show for John Ward, it would seem that we have conflicting sources or there is more than one Major John Ward.  Do a search for Col David Ward on familysearch.org.

I have visited the Ward Cemetery in Wards Cove, Tazewell, but was unable to sight either Major John Ward or Col David Ward graves.  The cemetery is quite overgrown and eventually, I'll be headed there with my siblings to clean it up and see if other markers appear.

Alexander Ward (son of Col David Ward and brother of Major John Ward IV) stone is prominent in the cemetery.  I have a picture to share if desired.

I suspect you and are a cousins.
