After doing considerable family research and collaborating with relatives, I suspect my great grandmothers biological father is not Herman August Gunkel. Her mother Annie Lyons is proven, DNA relatives, maternal haplogroup etc. However there are many living descendants of the Gunkel family, myself, uncle and mother are not a DNA match to any of them. Also the Gunkel family is German, traced back 100s of years and August's parents were both born in Germany. My mother, uncle, cousins and myself have no German DNA. We are all more Irish than we would suspect...maybe Im reaching here, but I suspect Cora's biological father to be an Irish immigrant like her mother Annie. I have been unable to find birth records for any of Annie Lyons 4 children. Cora's parents both died when she was very young. She never spoke of them.
