There seem to be some issue with bothAnne and her daughter Elizabeth having the same apparent birth year and Elizabeth is listed as married the year before her parents. Anne is also showing as her own sister, and I don't know how to correct that error. Cosby-118 and Cosby-150 have been merged and this might have created this issue

The Cosby and Garland families, including the Meriweathers and all the different spellings of them has lent itself, as least for me, the most confusing ancestors in my tree.  I thought I could help you with this…and I might still be able to but I have another group of documents to review.  But don’t get discouraged..they continually named their children Charles, John, Anne, Mary, Jane, etc.  which as you can imagine makes for a good brain to go into mush.  I will get back to you.

Cathi, I reviewed the information on Anne Cosby and it quite a jumbled mess out there in genealogy land.  I have a document from one source which shows that Charles Cosby and Jane Meriwether did not have a son named John.  In this source, they had two sons: James and David.  I will send you a cooy of my screen capture.

(And therein lies the problem.  Anne (Cosby) Garland does not have any source except for one website using what they find from another genealogical website.  I don’t doubt this lady had a life, but the paper trail is slim.

I have a book on the Overtons, which includes the Garlands, Cosbys, Meriweathers et al., written in the 1930’s.  I will look thru it and see if I can find any info on Anne Cosby Garland…the Index is a poor excuse for an index so this will take sone time.  There are no easy answers to the Cosby,  Garlands and the rest…except for perseverance.  The Meriwether Society used to have a great database but they made a deal with Ancestry and you can’t even get a view of it there even if you are a menber.

See comments posted recently to David [[Meriwether-256]] and John [[Cosby-33]], just to add to the confusion !
