I need help for an Ancestor.  A Johann (John) Heringer Born March 28 1863 and Died May 04, 1936. Married to Ludwicka Massier. His documents give 2 different birth locations. Some in Russia and some in Germany.  He is in the U.S. American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.  Is there any way to find out for sure.  I cannot find the actual birth certificate.

(The historical society of Germans from Russia Document is not in English so I do not know if that gives a birth location.)

The obituary from the Historical Society of Germans from Russia just says that he was born on March 28, 1863, in Russia - Russland.

Go to https://library.ndsu.edu/db/naturalization/. If you put in the name for Johann Heringer, it shows a record for him and lets you order his naturalization records.  If it has his declaration, that could be a real help.  They identify places of birth.

Hi,

contact the Stadtarchiv of the german town and ask if they still have the birth record in their archieves or where they can be found or you ask  the parish for his baptism entry.
