New member introducing myself

Question

Hi, I am Errol Thompson and have become the maintainer of the Clearwaters of New Zealand data that was used to produce a book on 1986 by my parents in conjunction with other members of the family.

I have been using Family Tree Maker in conjunction with Ancestry to maintain the data but I want to make it more readily available so other family members can help maintain it.

I also have my wife's family (Guy and Willers of New Zealand) in my tree. There are over 5000 people in the tree so I am looking for how to put this in a place where it is more accessible and less dependant in me.

I have lots of questions about the underlying data structures for WikiTree and how it maps to other family tree software.

I am a retired computer scientist, software developer, and educational researcher.

Hi Errol!  Warm welcome to WikiTree!

Could i suggest that you edit your question to include the tag 'tech' so that there is a better chance of your fellow computer expert people (of which i am not one) noticing it?

Also, if you didn't already, choose the category 'WikiTree Tech' for your question.
