A veteran of the glorious 106th New York Co. B. Who has a beautiful memorial on his FindAGrave. There is a letter he wrote to his sister “Ellen” which is legibly difficult to read and also the obit difficult to read but we do have his parents names and with some more collaboration we can attach him to the main Wikitree family. Does he have a diary published? Who was the sister he wrote to? It appears she might have passed before his obit was written or she is one of the two sisters mentioned in his obit?
Thank you
George and Amelia (McRobbie) Hill had a daughter Ellen, which is the sister to whom the letter is addressed.
Emily Hill, who was born on October 18, 1848, and died on February 12, 1935, both in Oswegatchie, New York, married Josiah Eugene Murphy so she is the Mrs. J.E. Murphy named in the obituary.

Just found Mrs. Ellen Hill Murphy Obituary. Parents are Scottish immigrants so a definite match to the 1880 census of the Josiah Murphy on wiki
There is one of his letters with a transcription for sale - https://www.excelsiorbrigade.com/products/details/LTR-382. It's dated December 7, 1864, and written at Warren Station, Virginia.
It has the transcription which is wonderful. The museums should have these kind of letters to preserve them. Thank you it’s very helpful in the genealogy of his family
