New Sticker Proposal: Armia Krajowa member

I would like to propose a new sticker template for members of the Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa, or AK) during World War II.

The history of the underground resistance group can be digested on Wikipedia.

The proposed image is

The proposed template text is ... was a member of the Armia Krajowa (Polish Home Army).

There are a number of profiles where this sticker could be used, e.g. Górecka-50, Piechowski-27, Komorowski-68 and Gurr-432 (with more to come).

Yay! Going live with Template: Resistance Movement

I received an e-mail response from Steven Harris this morning:

This is good to go. I removed the category from the example since it was still "red".

Use the following for now:

Group: Military
SubGroup: General

The category he removed was "Category: Armia Krajowa, Polish Resistance, World War II", which he said was what the name of the category should be, instead of "Category: Armia Krajowa (Polish Home Army)". If no objections, I'll create that category and move the info & pages/profiles from Armia Krajowa (Polish Home Army) to it.

The guidelines for sticker creation say you need to have three people post that they'd use the sticker. I'd say Skye counts as one.

You might want to add the tag Poland too to get a wider audience. Maybe WWII also.

In anticipation that you'll get the needed three responses... what would the appropriate timeframe be for someone in the Polish Home Army? Timeframes are used for stickers to help control their proper use. For example, say the timeframe start date is 1900 and the end date 1950. If the sticker is placed on a profile for someone who died in 1899, it will generate a DBE suggestion because "Template used does not allow profiles with death date before certain date." A similar DBE applies if a sticker with a 1950 end date is placed on the profile of someone born in 1952.

Cheers, Liz

@ the Templates Project member who undertakes creating the sticker (I'll volunteer) once two more folks say they'll use such a sticker: https://www.wikitree.com/photo/png/Armia_Krajowa is the url for the image

We can add a living parameter if needed. I am not fond of them myself, especially in templates doing translations since you have to start coding multiple ways... But I won't object if you want to add it.

And yes to G2G - just so everyone has a chance to chime in.

RE: imagetext/imagelink: of the stickers that provide these options, not many people actually use them. So we are basically coding for every possible combination of usages before any real need. It also makes it more difficult to maintain the templates long-term the more parameters you add. But again, I won't object if you want to add them.

In fact, feel free to take over my sandbox if you want to play around with it.
I don't understand the coding used, although I did add imagetext & imagelink.

If you took away the [name was] part of the sticker, and left it just "Member of {{movement}}" then living=yes wouldn't be needed.
Looks like I'm late to the party, but let's do it (the Resistance Movement sticker)

Ralph - does the Polish work with out the name?

Członkiem Armia Krajowa.

Steven - I don't see that you added a G2G post, but it seems we've had a lot chiming in this thread. If you're ok with how the sticker in Sandbox Steven3 is now, I can go ahead and make it live if you'll tell me the Group/Subgroup to add (or add them in the Sandbox).
@Liz - what is the English text so I can check?

@ Liz - the Polish for 'Member of Armia Krajowa' would be Członek Armii Krajowej

Thanks Ralph - that was the English. Does just "Member of" instead of "Name was a member of" work ok for you?
@ Liz - Yes that's absolutely fine by me.

I was asked to reply to this post. A few profiles of mine would be allegible for the Armia Krajowa sticker. Including Wiwa Jaroszewicz.

I am all for this sticker!
I have (at least) a grandmother and two great-uncles who would get it. I also think that as a recognised military unit of one of the major combatants of the deadliest war we've had, there would be lots of other people who would qualify.
