Missy.  I have a question about unsourced profiles.  Yesterday I found profiles for EOSTLUND,  These were unsourced, not labeled as such, orphaned, and should have been Östlund. I adopted, changed LNAB, and removed myself as manager,  I then found a census source.  See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/%C3%96stlund-144

If I find such a profile, not categorized as unsourced, would this count?

If I find such a profile, categorize it as unsourced, add the source would this count?

Or should I categorize it as unsourced and return to it in October?

I answered via email, but I thought I would answer here too. 

Profiles have to be categorized as unsourced first for them to count towards your total during a Source-a-Thon. You get credit for the unsourced profile once you add a “good” source and then remove the template/category.

I had three options. Your answer eliminated the first option.  May I categorize the profile as Unsourced,  and then add sources?

Yes, you can categorize the profile as unsourced, then add the source during the Source-a-Thon and it will count towards your total.

I do not believe you can categorize as unsourced, then source and remove the category/template in the same day, however. You would need to find your unsourced profiles ahead of time, categorize them and go back to them during the Thon in order for the sourced profile to count.

They do count even if they didn't have the unsourced category already, they just can't be freshly created or have any existing sources. (I posted an answer with the link to the page about that - meant to have it as a reply to this but messed up a bit).

Thank you, Rakelle! That makes me happy to know, because I often find unsourced profiles that are not categorized and I wonder if my sourcing counted or not. Woo hoo!

Regarding what counts (I accidentally made this a separate answer):

All prior source-a-thons have accepted unsourced profiles that weren't already in the Unsourced category, as per https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/470614/what-profiles-count-as-unsourced-for-the-source-a-thon  - and I got that link from the current source-a-thon page.

The important thing is that they have no proper source (a link to ancestry or such is not considered a source) and that they were already existing profiles.

I cannot find "challenge tracker"

Instructions say to click on challenge tracker at the top of the page, but what page? Cannot find this, cannot add sourced profiles to team.

How do I use "challenge tracker"? I don't see instructions. I have sourced profiles to add to our team tally. Any help would be appreciated.

After you source an unsourced profile and FULL save it, a green box comes up. You click on CHALLENGE TRACKER. Make sure your ID is in the top box and then select what source you added, then Add Action. They tally up automatically.

This sourced profile was fully saved, but I'm not able to find a button for a challenge tracker. No green box popped up.

I had to go back in and format, then full save, then add the challenge tracker information. Thank you for your help. I'll see what I can do with the other sourced profiles, too.
