I think we would need dates of birth and death, location, name of wife or parents or siblings or children or a bit more information please.

there are about 160 Leonard Scott profiles here from various countries England, Canada, USA, Australia,  and New Zealand.  But not Scotland, but then Leonard is not a very Scottish name. You could see if any of these may be the Leonard Scott you are looking for.

My 5x Great Grandfather was Leonard Scott born 1769 in Virginia who married Nancy Butts Martin. Is this who you are looking for? :)

My great great grandfather Leonard Scott and his wife Johanna Hensley were from Yancy, N.C. They later moved to Harlan, Ky. Do not know who his parents were.
Have you made a profile for him?  Once a profile is created with what is known, then searches can be done to find other sources.  If you have a profile, paste a wikilink, id or url here and we can then see if we can find anything to help.

I am also a descendant of Leonard Scott b.1769 who married Nancy Butts Martin.  I've got a pretty clear picture of my Scott convoluted tree back to Mr. Leonard.  It is a puzzle to me prior to him.  There are 3 or 4 theories out there but I haven't seen clear proof for any of them.

If you untangle the Leonard Knot, I would very much appreciate seeing your results.

Michael, so Doyle, so John Henry, so Milton, so Leonard, so Jesse, so Leonard b. 1769

I’m also a descendant of Leonard Scott and Nancy Butts Martin of Stokes Co., NC.  I’ve looked at records there and neighboring Surry Co and cannot find anything solid about his origins.  Supposed to be from VA but not certain.  We also cannot establish his relationship to Daniel Scott who owned land across the Yadkin River from Leonard.
Thank you so much for that info
So you’re a descendant of Leonard through son Jesse?  That makes us closer kin, Michael.  Jesse traveled to Scott County, VA by 1838/39 and in 39 married Mary Polly McKnight Singleton, a widow.  He moved then on over to Harlan, KY and had a second family.  We don’t know anything about what happened to first wife Sarah Kerr whose boys John Scott and James G Scott stayed behind in Scott County.  I descend from James G who married Peggy Speers (whose ancestors came from the same area of NC Leonard was in).  I’m interested in knowing more of your line.
Leonard left a will in Stokes County, NC in 1839.  It was not completely probated until the 1850s, I think.  It names children and grants them “shares” of his estate.  My Jesse, Leonard’s son sold his birthright to his brother (sounds biblical) and moved on to the Clinch Valley of Virginia.  It is very frustrating to try to figure out Leonard’s origin.  There are numerous theories, but none are solid.  Several people are working on it. Here’s my link to him in the wikitree:  [[Scott-18559|Leonard Scott Sr (1769-abt.1838)]]
