I was also thinking that if you don't feel comfortable mentoring -- just yet -- you might enjoy joining our Greeter Project. It's a great place to learn how to find answers to the questions from new members. Take a look at their joining post.

Julie,   as I mentioned to you earlier,  I am interested in being a WikiTree Mentor.    Some of my  "personal projects"  have now been completed and I have time available for performing the duties of a Mentor.

Please let me know if you still need new Mentors!

Thanks,

Peggy Mac

I would like to help in anyway I can, I'm working on finding slaveholder to some of my enslaved family members
by David Anthony Taylor G2G6 Mach 1 (16.9k points)

Hi, David --

It looks like you're a little shy of the requirements listed in the original post. :-)

One of the best things you can do to develop the knowledge and skills needed to be a mentor is to read through questions in G2G and help people find answers about how to use WikiTree. In other words, for mentoring, WikiTree skills are more important than research skills.

Becoming familiar with the New Member tutorials is also important: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:New_Member_How-To

Fantastic that you're researching your enslaved family members!! Have you answered the post for joining the Black Heritage project?? https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1244495/the-black-heritage-project-could-really-use-more-volunteers

Let us know if you're still interested in mentoring in a couple of months after you've had a little more time here. Thanks, David!

Julie,

I'd like to join.  I'm happy to help with whatever but am particularly keen on the early colonialists and their connections back to their home countries.  As this can be a fraught area there is always room for help there.  Over the years I've finally become competent in this area!

I would really like to be a Mentor to help new WikiTree members feel welcome, and that there are people on here that really do want to help get them started the correct way.
