Is this a reliable source?:New York in the Revolution as Colony and State, Vol. II, originally published in 1897.

I'm asking if it's reliable because it shows that one of my ancestors, Matthew Jagger (b.1750) was in The First Regiment Of Minute Men in Suffolk county, New York, yet the DAR data base does not include him at all. Should this concern me? Thanks for any advice

The DAR only has information on the ancestors of its’ members, so that’s not a concern.  FamilySearch has a lot of Revolutionary War rolls (free) and Fold3 has a huge collection of Revolutionary War documents ($).  I would search those. Here’s a link to a website with a list of sources

Yes, the book is in Hathitrust as good
