Advice before editing this pre-1700 Jay profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of John (Jay) Guy. This is what I can add:

• I have found John Jay's birth record and documentation of his correct parents, John Jay Sr. and Mercy Bartlett. His exact birthdate is 30 Sept 1672.

These are the sources I am using:

Rene, it would appear that the record you have found applies to a different person who is this https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Jaye-20. This is discussed in the Research Notes of the profile Jay-1210 unless I am missing something in the research chain. I am retagging your question with PGM since the Jaye-20 profile is managed by that project.

Original records show as JOY.  We have sponsored (paid for) done extensive YDNA testing on the family descendants of Thomas JOY and they do not match the YDNA JAY descendants of William JAY and Mary Vestal.

You are dealing with a 'corrupted' transcription of an original record.
