Questions about my 5th G. grandfather and 5th G. grandmother

I am having trouble finding any documentation on either of them, and it seems unlikely they would have married when she was only 13 years of age, and also had their 1st child at 13??  (John - Ogden-1181). - Does anyone out there have any info on this relationship, or know how I may best be able to find some information.  Thanks, Dave

Her profile is essentially unsourced, the one line bio appears to be for a different woman, the source for yet another one..  I’d be looking for real sources for this couple which might have better  dates.

I’m unable to research for you now, but this compilation of sources will surely have something to help you. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Sources-New_Jersey. It has links to what I mention below.

What I usually start with for pre-1800 people are the abstracts of wills and early land records. Start with her husband’s and dad’s wills. Figure out what religion they were, there are compilations of records by religion.

As for a 13yo getting married in colonial NJ, I’ve never seen it and suspect it’s a sign there’s a missing generation in the tree. IIRC to get married underage in NJ in this period, you would need approval from the governor, so they would appear in the marriage license records. Use the database on the state archives site to search — yes there were early compilations but the indexing was redone by NJSA and is the most accurate. If they were of age and married in their church, it would be in church records, not there.

Darling I hate to say this but there were time periods where people did Mary young and if you're dealing with Colonial time. It could be any age let me show you and I will give you the historical information on this so it'll help you understand

The individual could have got married in her early teens or late teens this would not be unheard of in colonial America there are cases where they did get married early because the family either passed away or the girl in question was in trouble take that into consideration when you're researching the historical context of the time

It is highly unlikely that someone would have married and had her first born at 13 years old, except maybe royalty. I just did a quick search for her and did not find anything (yet). After looking at all her siblings, I am thinking she may have been the first born and probably born more like around 1718. That would make her about 19 when she had her first child.
