Question

Seeking information on the following:

1).  Isaac (John) Still b. abt. 1850 & wife, Clarinda Beaube b. 1850

2).  Nathan Hickinbotham b. abt. 1860 & wife, Katherine Still b. 1870, residing in Jefferson County, Mississippi.

3).  Adda SIMPSON Sprigs b. abt. 1895 & daughter Sally (Sarah) SAFFOLD Calhoun, residing Holmes & Carroll, Mississippi.

4).  George & Katherine Carrol both born abt. 1830, residing in Midway, Carroll, Mississippi.

4). Isaac John Still  b. 1850 & Clarinda Beaube b. 1850

Answer 1

Isaac and Clarinda were legally married in Jefferson County Mississippi February 9, 1875  .   In the 1870 census, he is living with "Rinda" in Jefferson County Mississippi. His birth year given as 1844. She is 3 years younger. Both give a birthplace as Mississippi. They have 3 children - sons Horace, Dare, daughter Kate,  Rinda later married Henry Carrot, Dec. 19, 1890. Isaac died before the 1880 census. Rinda is living as widowed with children Horace, age 12 Catherine, age 11,  Flossa, age 6, Rosena, age 4.  Anna  age 3 and a son named as Samuel Clark 11 months old.

Daughter Kate has 2 death certificates in Ancestry records, both as Katherine W. Harris, both birth date given is July 15 1865 - one cert has parents John Stills and Amanda Jones,. The other cert is parents Ike Stills and Rinda B. Bee.

Nathan born 1860, daughter Pearl born 1890. In 1910 census Catherine divorced, and has son Medville (Ed) listed as 10 months old.  I found no marriage record to Nathan.

To add to your confusion, in the 1910 census, all Catherine's children have surname Williams. So, between Hickenbottom and Harris, there was a Williams.

Addie Simpson, 1900 census, Holmes Mississippi, living with James Spriggs as Addie Simpson. There are 3 children. Marietta Jordon age 6, Hattie Jordon age 2, and Richard Sprigs 3 months old. Addie gives her age as 24, born 1876, Mississippi, marital status widowed.

There is a Sarah Saffold, 1920 census,  Holmes, Mississippi, born 1896, mulatto, widowed, with son John Wesley Saffold, age 5,  and niece Fannie Saffold.

John's WW2 draft registration has dob October 12.1914. Holmes Mississippi. He lists his mother as next of kin as Sarah Ann Randle.

Wesley Saffold died 1918 in Holmes.

1900 census, he was born 1884 in Holmes, son of Burwell Saffold.. On his WW1 draft registration, he lists next of kin as Sarah Saffold.with a birthdate of Dec 26 1882

No cause of death but that was the year of the worldwide Spanish flu pandemic
