My family comes from the Pinders of Spanish Wells.  I've hit a brick wall with [[Pinder-921]].  There are just too many people with the same name living in the same place.  I haven't been able to sort them out yet.

Hi, Leona --

We have a Bahamas project here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Bahamas

There is a link in the box on that page that shows the other WikiTree members who participate in that project.

I hope that helps you get connected with someone who can help. :-) (I'm also going to add the Bahamas tag to your message here, too, which will notify those members who follow the tag)

Hi Leona:  Let us know who you are looking for and we'll see if we can help you. There is also an online Bahamas Genealogy Group at groups.io that does a lot of research together. It's free! And many of the members post their research here.

Thanks Ann!  I am looking for info on my grand father John Hawkins Russell.  Born in 1870 in Cherokee Sound.  He had three sons Roy (my dad) Kenneth and Inglis.  I think my great grandfather is William “Bill” "Russell who might have been born in Harbour Island
John Hawkins Russell was, indeed, the son of William "Bill" Russell and Mary Anne Bethel Russell.

Please see the WIKITree profiles:

Hello Leona, thank you for asking. My paternal grandparents were born on New Providence and I have been looking for information about their ancestors. Many family mysteries and brick walls still remain. Any new details you could add may help to connect our various families together.

Yes! I have two Carey lines, plus Knowles, Thompson, Morton and Culmer ancestors.  Most all from Eleuthera.

Both groups mentioned above are excellent.  The email group Ann mentioned above is really a boon to all Bahamas researchers.  You will get lots of support from the members, many of whom are long time researchers or genealogists with a great deal of knowledge, experience and access to sources.  Of course, once you gain new knowledge, please post it here on Wikitree and be sure to add the Bahamas template to any person who was born, died or married in the Bahamas.  And join the Wikitree Bahamas Project.

Also, join the Bahamas genealogy site (https://genealogy.hopetownmuseum.com/tng/index.php) to gain access to the Dolly Mae records.  It's about $25 annually but well worth it if you have Bahamian ancestors.
