New member introducing myself

Hello! My name is Tessa. I am very excited to be a part of this community. I am not quite sure how I missed the memo on WikiTree and its mission, as I've been very present on the genealogy scene for the past couple of years (mainly on ancestry.com).

I am excited to see if there's any more to be gleaned on my ancestors on this site. My main road-block ancestor (that I will always remain curious about) is up my paternal line: Thomas Capell (born around 1806 in Rugby, Warwickshire, England we think). I suspect that will always remain a dead-end as I found a baptism record for a Thomas Capell who was an illegitimate child and there aren't enough autosomal matches that connect that far back to piece that puzzle together.

I have been doing plenty of research on my husband's side of the family also. Do I create a separate account for my husband or can I do all my family tree work for both of us on one account?

Welcome to WikiTree, Tessa. You have come to what I think is the best place on the internet to work together to form one large tree. 

Your husband will only need an active account if he has DNA tested and you want to use the DNA tools for research on his family. In that case, he would need to be a Family Member and add his own DNA info. He could then make you a co-manager of his profile. You can read about how to do that in sections 7 and 9 of the GDPR FAQ. Please let your Greeters know if you have any questions about that.

If you are doing the work then it is best for you to be the only account.  If your husband wants to take on the research for his family then he will need an account of his own..

It is nice to see another Capell on board. I suppose your hubby is the Capell? or is that your maiden name. I too have a tree on Ancestry.com, but I love to do my sourcing for a relative and add a biography on Wikitree for the family member. I uploaded my GEDCOM from ancestry onto Wikitree and I have been gradually adding more and more family members. What fun it is! I look forward to seeing if we are cousins....probably are since there are not as many Capells as there are some surnames. Hope to hear from you....Jenny Capell-224 now Campbell
