Looking for info on Edwin Payne Russell

Question

Hi, I am new to Wikitree but not to genealogy research.  I am looking for the place and date of birth and death of my g-g-grandfather Edwin Payne Russell and the names of his parents.   

Edwin Payne’s Wikitree ID is Russell-27339#.  (Hope I am listing that correctly.)  This ID has an indepth summary of what I know and what I wonder about.

Hi Evan,

Just a idea of a lead to work to see if you can find Edwin's parents:

On the 1850 census, he is listed with his sister Louise and presumably his mother Laura. Laura was born about 1818 in Vermont. This may be his sister, Louise Russell's death record:  https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?dbid=61442&h=270918&indiv=try&o_vc=Record:OtherRecord&rhSource=8054 Her parents are listed as Samuel Russell and Laura Drake, both born in Vermont. The name Laura as their mother and Laura's birth in Vermont agrees with the 1850 census information for Edwin and Louise.   I'd work this information and see if there are additional collaborating documents to link them to Edwin.
