I wanted to share this family photo of Danny Wright with the community. Location: Makanda, Jackson, Illinois, United States. Date: unknown. Picture is From Makanda, Illinois but he moved to Pittsfield, MA as a young adult to work for Maurice Roberts.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful photo.  It is a great photo of Danny and the gas pump makes it is a reminder of an earlier time.  What an amazing memory.

I've never known a boy named Ethyl

Danny is my 10 Cousin! Michael, who posted this picture,is also my 10th cousin!  I didn't become a WikiTree member for 3 months after this was posted, and I just discovered it today! 

So the question is: Why was gas named Ethyl?

Ethyl was short for tetraethyl, an compound added to gasoline to boost its octane rating.
