I want to lay out my tree in a way that can be easily seen and understood. How do I start?

If you have an existing Gedcom from another site such as ancestry you can upload this to wikitree and it will create pre-formatted profiles for each ancestor, which you can then continue to change or develop; just go to MyWikiTree>GEDCOMs>Upload a GEDCOM. This is the way I began my tree here.
