The Swedish site Bygdeband (about Swedish places, their history and people) has been replaced, and all old links to it should be replaced with links to Sveriges Hembygdsförening (www.hembygd.se).

Links to Bygdeband can be found on both profiles and categories.

Example, the category Slimminge.

Thanks for announcing this.

I noticed and corrected the few that were on profiles I manage a few weeks ago.

Links to Bygdeband have been unreliable for a long time, I think - seems like it took them years to migrate from one format to the other.

It's a very uneven site. In some places members have put up some pretty nice stuff about individuals and families from the past. In other places you are just led round in circles when you are looking for the location of a croft you're interested in.

Since I know that there must be quite a lot of orphaned profiles with old links to Bygdeband I looked up which list in the DB errors they can be found in:

https://www.softdata.si/wt/Err_20210314/SWE/965_60_0.htm

I think that when they are just placed there as a general link to a placename, they are unnecessary. Unless there are strong opinions for keeping them, I'll do some work on editing them out.
I agree with Eva. Most of the time they are superfluous and could/should be suppressed.
