Hi wikitree family

We have William Putnam born March 8, 1796 married Susan Briggs abt. 1800-after 1860 (possible daughter of Elijah Gibbs and Susan Richards) February 12, 1822. Together they had the following children

1. William Henry Putnam (1823-1897)

2. Hiram Royal Putnam (1825-1904)

3. Willard A  Putnam (1827-1899)

4. Susan Frances Putnam (1830-?)

5. Lucinda E  Putnam (1839-after 1900)

6. Mary Jane Putnam (1841-after 1900)

The 1900 census shows Miss Mary Putnam (never married?) and sister Lucinda living in California

We are curious and trying to understand why they moved from Massachusetts to California?

Need help adding sources especially connecting the mother Susan Briggs to her parental lineage  any help in the Putnam and Briggs genealogy research is appreciated

Note: William Putnam is a descendent of Mayflower Passenger Myles Standish, John Alden, and Priscilla Mullins

Lucinda and Mary are in Woodland California in 1880 - employed as dressmakers - listed under initials M.J. and L.E. Putnam

Dressmakers! Interesting. Thank you Eddie laugh

I don’t think Miss Mary ever married

There's also, living close by them, 1880, Madison Putnam
Oh I wonder how Madison might fit in?

Found Miss Mary Jennie Putnam death record. She died two days before her 102nd B-day. She lived 71 years in Sacramento. A young girl from Mass. moving all the way there and never moved back. Maybe for the work and jobs?

Middle name was “Jennie” not “Jane”

Dunno about Madison - I just like to torture you devil
