Should I use the "Danish Roots" sticker when creating my WikiTree profiles?

Hi,

I am a recent member to the WikiTree family, and have started to enter profiles for my ancestry based on research carried out by my father's cousin.  My father was Danish, and so most of the profiles I will be creating will be for Danish ancestors.

I see that both the Danish & Nordic projects were closed recently, so just wondering if there is anything specific I should do (by way of references) when creating my ancestor profiles? For examples, when from reading some of the Nordic Project comments, I see that they were suggesting adding specific stickers to profiles to indicate danish root, or danish native.

Many thanks, Carl

Hi Carl,

Welcome to WikiTree! The new nordic project has not been closed, but perhaps the latest g2g thread to join it. I checked, and it has the text "New join thread for Nordic Project will be posted soon"

I myself don't use stickers for the profiles I add, who are Swedish, so it's a pure matter of choice. Maybe it is more interesting to use the "Danish roots" stickers on the profiles of your immigrated family, where it is not so obvious anymore where they came from.

Good luck with your WikiTree work!

Hi Maria,

Many thanks for your response. I will wait and see if the Nordic project kicks off again.

All the best, Carl

Click here to join the Danish/Denmark Project and stickers that can be used on Danish profiles.

Stickers: Add one of our two stickers to help us identify the profiles as being within our project's Sphere of Interest.

  • Copy the following into the biography of profiles of those born in Denmark: {{Danish Native}}.
  • Copy the following into the biography of profiles of those with Danish ancestors: {{Danish Roots}}.

Hi David,

Many thanks for the information. The Danish project was closed down, but I will wait and see if the Nordic project kicks off again. In the meantime, I think I will add the Danish Roots sticker to my own profile.

All the best, Carl

Be sure to add Danish and Denmark to the tags you follow on G2G then you'll get a notification when the next joining thread is up.

Thank you, I will do that.

Yes; of course you should. It makes the profiles more attractive to look at with the red and white colours in our flag  Dannebrog.

I am Danish and I always use the Danish Stickers. I have it as default in my template for creating new profiles. I would like it to be in Danish though, "Født i Danmark" seems a little spicier to me than "Born in Denmark"  and with Google Translate, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Ole! My father was born in Denmark, so will add Danish Native to his profile, and Danish Roots to mine.
I will now always think of the "spicier" version.
Ole - why not request a change?
