Hi!

Anyone want to tackle connecting John Wayne to AJ and the Global Family?

Here's his profile: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Morrison-2413

Thanks!

For the record: WikiTree's worldwide tree does have a connection for John Wayne now, and there's no dubious medieval royalty in there. At the moment, he is 31 steps from AJ through Iowa, Michigan, Canada, and colonial America. If anyone wants to double check these links for accuracy, please do!

I'm so glad that greater awareness of Welsh genealogies is coming out of this!

Wow...that's a long way. Is it sourced in the distant past?
I'm not going to give a thumbs down here, but I will express my strong doubt that this can be substantiated.
Also, a removal of 20 generations indicates a serious genealogical mistake.  As in, Pasgen ap Urien, born c. 521 AD who had son Llyminod ap Pasgen born c. 870 AD. Thanks, Geni.com!

AJ Jacobs and Constantine Constantius have 42 degrees of separation:

Sigh.  Well, WikiTree is not immune from these problematic genealogies either.  Follow the line and you'll see Cadrod Ap Gwriad, born about 768 AD who is supposedly the brother of Morgeneu Ap Elystan who was born in 973 AD, among other genealogical oddities.
Even worse is Gwerfyl ap Lewis, born about 1550, daughter of David of Gwynedd, born 1208.

I'm not an expert on the Welsh genealogies, but clearly the ones on both Geni and WikiTree need a LOT of work before they can be considered anything but legends.
I'm seeing a STRONG need for a Ancient Welsh Ancestry project... (subset of EuroAristo - British Isles?)
Sounds like a good idea, Jillaine!

I agree about an Ancient Welsh Ancestry Project.  I've been going nuts for several years about the duplicates in ancient Welsh genealogy for several years.  Should it be a sub-project of EuroAristo?  I don't know anything about Welsh genealogy, but I'll be a project leader, if no one with better credentials steps up and if those in the know will help me.

I have not chosen to delve into pre-1600 genealogy in any significant way and I don't know that I'd be much help, other than to be a gadfly in situations like these.  But I do wonder what the etiquette is for ones like these that just on the face can't work.
