Beautiful quilt! As a young child, I remember my grandmother quilting! She, and usually several of her girlfriends (old ladies I think I referred to them!) would sit in the living room of the house, and work on a quilt that was inside a large wooded frame. All the sewing, stitching, patch work, was done by hand. I remember they would work on one quilt at a time, and it seemed like it took months for them to complete one. I do not recall them doing an ancestry quilt, but I sure do recall them making quilts for family members with new babies. They had boxes of material which was used, and some of that material was from old clothing that would have some sentimental value to the person the quilt was being made for! Thanks for sharing, and allowing me to take a trip down memory lane from my childhood!
