Watson Stewart? Abe. M. Mauldin? Pickens County Sheriff on the date of September 20, 1877 when land was sold? Where was this 108 acres of land on Little Crow Creek waters of Keowee? I’m looking for anything clues of Mary Blackston maiden name? Information I’ve found is that she is buried at Mount Bethel Methodist Church in Pickens County, South Carolina, who was Sam Medlock? He is mentioned as sending information to this message board..

From the newspaper "The Pickens Sentinel" Issue of Thursday

8 June 1882:

Pickens County SC Sheriff's Sale. 108 acres on Little Crow Creek waters of Keowee adj. Watson Stewart, Abe. M. Mauldin and others conveyed to J. Hiram Blackston by Mary Blackston the 20th of September 1877. To be sold as the property of J. Hiram Blackston at the suit of Watson Stewart.

(This book lists abstracts from the paper) There should be a deed for the transfer of land which took place on 20 Sept. 1877 maybe explains relationship. There may be a court case instigated by Watson Stewart. Who was he? A relative maybe married to one of Mary's daughters or Was he owed a debt?? On the 1840 in Pickens District there is a Hiram Blackstone listed as # 2024 -

Hiram Blackstone 1 male under 5, 1 male 5 to 10, 1 male 20 to 30, 1 female under 5, 1 female 20 to 30. (My friend Sam Medlock sent this census to me last night.) Was this Hiram and Mary? Maybe John Hiram was named for his father?

The Pickens Sentinel - Issue of Thursday 23 June 1887:

Mrs. Mary Blackstone of Hurricane Twp. died the fifteenth inst. at the home of her son Silas Blackstone at the age of 82 years. Burial at Mt. Bethel. (Wonder if article gives any other relationship. What denomination is Mt. Bethel? Maybe is Silas John Hiram's brother?)

There is also on the 1870 census in Easley Twp. Pickens County, a Mary Blackstone age 62.

Ros Haywood I edited it, I’m sorry about that I my self had a hard time reading it, I guess it did that way because it was a message board note.  Thanks for calling me out.  Hope to find out more about my family.

How can we find out where the 108 acres of land was , and who was the Sheriff in Pickens County, 1877?
I looked up Little Crow Creek waters of Keowee Sun Set area history can’t find much, if they are any Cemetery’s other then Mount Bethel Methodist Church where Mary Blackston is buried at then I may find more Blackstone’s, I believe her youngest son Silas Blackstone moved to Columbia, South Carolina, one son died in war , my line moved to Hurricane Creek Township,, one daughter moved out west , I believe they was one more daughter stayed around South Carolina probably Pickens County, South Carolina
Keowee - Cherokee land by Clemson

for sheriff, call the library ? Nothing on the 'net - sorry
Ok yes Clemmons area, I was told Mary was a Indian, it maybe why she lost her land.
This is the youngest son of Mary Blackston Blackstone-208 William Silas Blackstone (abt.1850 - abt.1910) and seems to be the little brother onf my John Hiram Blackstone (1838-1913) if Mary Blackstone was head of house 1850 this brother wasn’t born she was probably pregnant with him 1850 the dad John Hiram Blackstone (1812-1850) was already dead or ran off somewhere, for he is not to be found
