Interesting Data-Doctoring Method

I encountered a situation where I needed to correct some source URL's in some of my profiles and, in the process, learned a very useful technique to find and correct the wrong URL's.

Some of my profiles had used the Danish Demographic Database as a source where I had copied the URL from the output or results page (https://www.ddd.dda.dk/asp/alle_opl_en.asp) which, of course, does not work without the hidden parameters passed to it.

The URL that I needed to be using is for the Search page which is https://www.ddd.dda.dk/soeg_person_enkel_uk.asp

I corrected the profiles that I had been recently working on but needed to know if there were any other profiles that I had missed.

I used the Googe site search method "site:www.wikitree.com https://www.ddd.dda.dk/asp/alle_opl_en.asp" and found eight profiles that contained the broken URL, one of which was mine.

Since I clearly understood the problem and how it got that way, I went ahead and fixed the other profiles (I am always cautious and respectful when editing the profiles of others).

This technique was so simple and useful that I couldn't resist passing it on.
