Cousins, was Joel C. Atkins a son of Hezekiah Atkins ?

Was Joel C. Atkins  ( Atkins - 1645)  truly a son of Hezekiah Atkins ( Atkins -  2367)   ?   I can find no records at all showing that he was.

The WikiTree Connection Finder has them 14 degrees apart and the Relationship Finder shows that they are not related.

There may be a connection through marriage.
