I can add a to the profile of Thomas Hungerford Jr.. This is who I can add: Thomas Hungerford's first wife, Rebecca Wallis 1622-1657 of Wiltshire, England

These are the sources I am using:Wiltshire, England Marriages, 1538-1837

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Neither Rebecca nor Thomas emigrated, as their wills show. Different family. Be cautious about assuming an immigrant's parents in a different country based only on a common name.

He's an ancestor of mine with Mary Green.

Let the profile managers know what you're doing.  They'll see anyway and can undo anything they disagree with.  Just document the change well.  

As for Rebecca Wallis, she may be a wife of his father and might be Thomas Jr's mother.

Or you're confusing him with https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hungerford-903 which is a common mistake.
