I have reached out to Falling Creek Church in an effort to find if David King was a member there.

David King is buried at Scott Cemetery in Deep Creek, FL, a couple of miles NNE of where Chouko is buried. Gravestone has same dates, also estimated, same style, both look to have been erected much after the fact: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/10142772/david-king

A David King born in the late 1840s is the only David King in Columbia County, FL, in the 1900 and the 1910 census, where he is listed as widowed (line 41 in this ancestry.com image and line 14 in this ancestry.com image).

FamilySearch link to 1900 census:  "United States Census, 1900," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M3DT-HC5 : accessed 5 September 2020), David H King, Precincts 2-3, Columbia, Florida, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) 4, sheet 1B, family 10, NARA microfilm publication T623 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1972.); FHL microfilm 1,240,166.

If that census is for the correct David King, Ancestry

has this marriage record:

D H King

Gender:                 Male

Marriage Date: 6 Nov 1895

Marriage Place: Columbia, Florida, USA

Spouse:                  Magnolia Raulerson

Film Number: 001953987

Kathie,

The Raulerson family is all over the state of Florida.  That appears to be David King's first wife.  I'll have to do some "digging" to see where she is interred.  Still very interested in Chouko King though.

Kevin Boldenow
The 1900 census shows him with a 16-year-old son, so he must have had a wife before Magnolia.  There is also a 6 year old child, unclear who her mother was since she was apparently born before David and Magnolia were married.

In the 1880 census he was listed with a wife Drucilla [presumably Drusilla] and 5 children born in the previous 10 years - see census at familysearch.org.

On the death certificate of the oldest of the children (Lizzie, born 1870), the mother is listed as "Virginia Brannon" (death certificate at familysearch.org).

My search is for Chouko King, the Native American who was the last wife of David King.

She does not seem to exist in any record.  I think the dates on the stone are for David King.  If he truly died in 1912 they were married for only a matter of months since he was not married according to the 1910 census, which says he was widowed and living with his daughter and her family.  A couple of suggestions would be to get a copy of his death certificate from Florida which should list his wife if he was actually married, another would be to see if the cemetery has death information or any record of the person who put up the stone, which looks much more recent that  the 19teens.

Hi Kevin

Do you have any further information on David - ie. dates/approximate dates of his b, m or d?  Name of a spouse or children?  Also there seems to be Falling Creek churches in FL, GA, NC, VA and that is just in the US, you haven't provided a location - Country> Province/Region/State.  If you could add any further details, someone might be able to help you more.

Happy Hunting!
