One Name Study - S-NN-T (Sennett, Sinnett, Sinnott, Sennitt, etc)

Not sure if this is the right place to post a message, but I just wanted to let folk know that the S-NN-T one name study is now up on wikitree.  I already have this study registered with the Guild of One Name Studies and as a surname project with familytreeDNA, but am excited about the possibilities of much greater collaboration with others.  Its going to take some time before my entire one-name study database appears on wikitree (in excess of 33,000 names to date!) but I will just take it bit by bit, and hopefully also be able to add info to to other peoples S-NN-T profiles.  I'm still finding my way around wikitree to have only uploaded a few small groups until I know what I am doing.   If you have one of these surnames, please feel free to contact me to see what I know about your family, and also link to the surname project.

Corinne, I have Sinnett ancestors, but they must branch off pre-immigration to America... I traced back to Patrick SInnett (Sinnett-45); he is part of the 1776 Project. He was the immigrant for this branch of the family, having come from Ireland to Virginia in the mid-1700s. Does this branch belong in your project?

Hi Kitty,

yes, I do have Patrick Sinnett's branch as part of the registered surname study, as I am collecting up all references to any variant spelling worldwide in the form S-NN-T, and linking as many as possible into family trees, working with people who are also researching those different families.   I think I have pretty much the same info as you - going back to Patrick Sinnett b about 1752 in Ireland.  I don't have anyone from this branch who has joined the DNA project yet (at familytreeDNA.com), so if you know of a male Sinnett relative who can show a direct father-son line back to Patrick, then it would be great to get them to join the project and do a Y-DNA37 test.   That may eventually help link your line to others further back in Ireland, and identify common ancestors and where Patrick came from

Feel free to contact me again if you have any other questions.

Corinne
