I had duplicate entries, trying to clean up; lost the ancestors from one of the profiles

I was looking through my site, and found a couple duplicates, so i merged them.  I have now lost ancestors.  example will be Malcom-280 and Malcom-724.  I figure undo the merge, then remerge, but which way do I do it to carry forward the ancestors?

you can't undo a merge

You merged the spouse of Jemima, but you didn't merge the Jemima profiles.  When you have a duplicated family like that,  you have to merge each of the duplicates.

I just proposed the merge for the 2 Jemima Bird profiles that you mentioned above.  Make sure you merge Malcom into Malcolm profile so the surname matches the parents.  Once those are merged, you will have all of the children together, and the parents.

Hopefully that helps.

I found another set of duplicate spouses for a recent merge.  Those were in a rejected merge, which I removed and proposed a merge.  Hopefully those two merges will get your missing ancestors back.
