SYDNEY MINES – Charles Paul Whitman, age 28, of Church Street, Sydney Mines, died following a single car accident on Highway 105, Little Bras d’Or, Monday morning.
Born in Kentville, he was a son of Paul and Amanda (Saunders) Whitman. He came to Sydney Mines at the age of two. A graduate of Sydney Mines High School, he was in partnership with his father in the Fillmore-Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
A member of Clyde Avenue Baptist Church, he was vice-president of Sydney Mines Kinsman Club, and was involved in community sports.
Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine Barry; a brother Alan, Halifax; two sisters, Alice at home; Janet, Halifax.
The body is at Fillmore-Whitman Funeral Home Sydney Mines. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. in Clyde Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery.
