Emily was born in 1837. She was the daughter of James Taylor and Mary Bartlett. She was their youngest child. By 1851 the Taylor family was living in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, a few miles from Calais, Maine. Emily's older brother Gain Taylor had already left home. He married Elizabeth Reynolds in 1851 and was living up the Fundy Coast in the port city of Saint John. Emily may have visited her brother or was living with him as in October 1860 she married George V. Reynolds, the brother of Elizabeth Reynolds in Saint John, as mentioned in a local newspaper: "m. 25th ult., by Rev. Samuel Robinson, George V. Reynolds/ Miss Emma Taylor, all of Portland (St. John)." Her name alternated between Emma and Emily, however it was Emily in census records for 1881, 1891 and 1901. Emily and George had seven children. Ancestry family trees claim a death date of August 1, 1904, which may be correct but until a record is located (they had none) we will mention she died after the 1901 census record.
