Is it okay to include Acadian and Canadians who fought in the American Revolution?
posted by Donna Fournier
Yes! I even have a Spanish fellow in my SAR group whose ancestor was in the American Revolution fighting for Spain against France.

The project, sticker, project box, etc., are open to all who fought or served in the war regardless of loyalty.

could you please send me a link? I'm lost.

I am interested in the 1776 Project. I found an account of a 1781 massacre in South Carolina and would like to upload it to the 1776 project. I am a newbie. How do I add this description of the Massacre at Cloud's Creek? My ancestor Captain James butler Sr was killed in that battle.

FYI: On the 1776 Project page Table of Resources for researching Revolutionary War Ancestors, I clicked the link and it took me to a page that said: "Account for domain lib.jrshelby.com has been suspended." So far, this is the only link I wanted to see that I couldn't access.
Is there a way to honor my Revolutionary War ancestors with a sticker or designation on their page?
Thanks Kitty!

Kitty was involved in the conversations with DAR so her opinion is well informed. Thanks for the advice!!

We hav been given permission to use the Ancestor record number when it is a source for information in the profile. Thus it can only be used in the = Sources = section of the biography. I don’t think you could make a public free space page within these limitations.
posted by Kitty (Cooper) Smith
Just so the information about DAR restrictions will be on this page, I am pasting it here:

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has asked that we not link to their proprietary information without prior written approval. This includes:

  • the DAR insignia
  • the DAR logo
  • all DAR Ancestor numbers
  • their public database.

Please delete all references to this proprietary information from your WikiTree profiles and do not use the former DAR template. Thank you.

Of course! We welcome space pages! We have to follow limitations set by DAR. We started out with a DAR badge and everything else just like NSSAR but we were contacted by them and told we couldn’t use their symbol and many other rules including how to cite information.

Here is one g2g about the situation but I am not certain it is the first one. So if you add a page, please do not use their symbol and read this information on their preferences. Thanks!

Might we have a Free Space page for DAR, like the NSSAR?

Here is an outstanding resource on the American Revolution:

The Revolutionary Journal of Col. Jeduthan Baldwin 1775-1778. North Stratford, NH: Ayer Company Publishers, Inc, Reprinted 1995, 2001. LC#73-140853; ISBN 0-405-01223-3. Eyewitness Accountes of the American Revolution, Series III (ISBN for complete set: 0-405-01100-8). Col. Jeduthan Baldwin was my 4X Great Uncle. My 4X Great Grandfather, Pvt. Josiah Baldwin, served as one of Col. Baldwin's Artificers at Fishkill, NY 1778-79).They were selling this journal in paperback at Mt. Independence, Orwell, VT in 2016, so I expect it is still available. Carol Baldwin (Baldwin-3428)

I won't attempt posting on the table-too new but have found the Southern Compaign of the Revolutionary War Pension applications as a helpful source(sorry I see this is already posted)

Also a special project in Virginia with DAR assist is, PRESERVATION OF REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERANS GRAVESITES. I found this during a google search.
