Biography

Gordon John Porter was born on 28 August 1925 in New Zealand. He was the son of Gordon Porter and Jessie Winifred Gilbert.

Around 1946, he married Ruby Joyce Jones. Their engagement was announced in the New Zealand Herald on 29 December 1945.

When he wrote his will, on 26 April 1946 , he was formerly an engineer residing at Frankton Junction (Hamilton), but now a member of His Majesty's Forces.

He was a member of Jayforce (or J-Force), the New Zealand component of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force in Japan. Before enlisting, he resided at 12 Keddell Street, Frankton Junction, and his wife's address was 102 Commerce St., Frankton Junction.

In 1971, from an affidavit for his mother's probate, he was a warehouseman residing at Hamilton.

He passed away on 24 September 1978 at Hamilton, aged 53. He had been a sales manager residing at Hamilton. His wife died three months later in a traffic accident.
