Biography

1776 Project
Lieutenant Lemuel Milliken served with 26th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Lemuel Milliken was born in 1745 in Scarborough, Maine. His parents were Edward Milliken and Abigail (Norman) Milliken[1].
He married Phebe Lord on 18 January 1770 in Scarborough[1]. They had issue.
Lemuel Milliken's son Abraham Milliken was born on 16 Jul 1769 in Scarborough, Cumberland, Maine, United States.[2]
Second Lieutenant Lemuel Milliken served in Colonel Jonathan Mitchell's regiment in 1779, under Captain Benjamin Larrabee. He served as a sergeant in Capt. john Rice's company in Col. Edmund Phinney's 31st Regiment of Foot in 1775.[3]
Lemuel Milliken (86) was enrolled in the military pension in 1831, when he was living at Cumberland, Maine, United States.[4]

Research Notes

Divided loyalties: Lemuel Milliken marched with Jonathan Mitchell's Regiment against the English during the summer of 1779. His brother, Benjamin Milliken Sr., meanwhile, fought with the English, was captured during the attack on Castine, Maine, and was subsequently released. Brother Benjamin later relocated to New Brunswick, as did Lemuel's daughter, Margaret Milliken.
