John was born in 1940. He was the son of Ossie McWhorter and Emma Staffey. He passed away in 2004.
Marriage:
- He married Dorothy Ann Bagley. Their child was John David "Muck" McWhorter, Jr. (1962–2010)
- He married Kathy Ann Jordan. Their child was Debra Ann Maire McWhorter (1972–2019).
John passed away on 25 December 2004 in the Genesis Hospice Care (Morrison House) in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio followed with burial at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio.
