John Malick was born on 11 Jan 1762 in Bridgewater Township, Somerset County, New Jersey.[1][2] He was the son of Philip Melick (1736-1797).[3]
During the American Revolution, he served multiple one month tours as a volunteer in New Jersey militia companies. His first tour was "in the fall before the British took New York". He served during the period of the "revolt in the Pennsylvania line" and fought in the battle of Springfield.[1]
He passed away in 1844. He was buried in Malick Cemetery in Augusta, Hampshire County, Virginia [present day West Virginia].[2]

Research Notes
This John Malick is frequently conflated with John Melick Sr (1753-1834) because of incorrect information in Story of An Old Farm.[5] Please see this page for more information.
