Biography

Sergeant Ezekiel Loring served with 2nd Regiment, Cumberland County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Ezekiel Loring lived in that part of old North Yarmouth, Me., which was afterward incorporated as Pownal. He enlisted in the Revolutionary army July 3, 1775, served six months on the seacoast of Maine. He enlisted in Captain Mayberry's company and was allowed mileage to his home, one hundred and fifty-five miles, from Dorchester where his regiment was August 29, 1776. Was quartermaster's sergeant in Capt. John Gray's company in Col. Jonathan Mitchell's regiment in the Penobscot expedition in 1779. He later lived on a farm at Pownal.
