[...] Ann Lawyer Adams, wife of William Adams, was converted to Methodism and opened her home to be the first meeting place for Methodists in the area. Francis Asbury was a frequent visitor. Ann converted her husband and children to Methodism and many of her children either became ministers or married ministers. One daughter married George Minor who gave the land for Fairfax Chapel, the first Methodist meeting house in northern VA. It was destroyed during the Civil War and was located on the grounds of Oakwood Cemetery in Falls Church.[1]
