Simon Adams was born 1750 in Fairfax County, Virginia. He was the son of Col William Adams and Ann Lawyer Adams. [1] He migrated to Shelby County, KY, with his wife and young son William Adams establishing a large plantation home there. Simon Adams died while traveling on his way back to his home in Shelby County, KY, after liquidating his assets in Fairfax, Virginia. At the Cumberland Gap area, he was robbed and murdered as noted in the article sourced in the "Kentucky Ancestors," Image 46 of 60, Endnote, #5: "Modern genealogists consider the place of Adams’ murder to be present-day Pineville, Bell County, Ky., a few miles north of the Cumberland Gap." [2]
