James was born in 1880. He was the son of Wyland Zaglanes Lasher and Catherine Frick. He passed away in 1964.

Obituary

James H. Lasher, 84 years, of 249 Charles Ave., New Kensington died at 7:20 p.m. Yesterday (Feb. 14, 1964) at Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington. Mr. Lasher was born Jan. 21, 1880 in Adrian, a son of Wyland and Catherine (Frick) Lasher. He was married Jan. 8, 1904 to Mary Lee Robinson, who preceded him in death March 11, 1963. Mr. Lasher, who was president of James H. Lasher and Sons Real Estate Agency in New Kensington, was stricken with a heart attack Feb. 5 while at his office. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he remained until his death. He went to New Kensington in 1916 to start his career in the real estate and insurance business. Prior to that time, he had resided in Oakmont. Mr. Lasher started the City of Lower Burrell. In 1939 or 1940 he developed the Clearview Plan, River View Heights and later the White Ridge Plan in New Kensington. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Kensington, the board of deacons of the church, National Association of Realtors, Pittsburg Board and New Kensington Board of Realtors, Pennsylvania State and National Insurance Agency. Surviving are three sons, Homer S. Lasher of Clarksburg, W. Va., John T. Lasher and James E. Lasher, of Lower Burrell, both of whom are associated in the family business; two daughters, Mrs. John A (Catherine) Milldollar of Miami, Fla. and Mrs. Jesse R. (Cora Jane) Worley of McKeesport. Four brothers, John H. Lasher of Wilkinsburg, William C. Lasher on New Kensington, Dr.L.A. Lasher of Erie and Loven L. Lasher of Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters Mrs. Minerva Shaffer and Mrs. Maude, both of Kittanning; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington after 7 tonight. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Mr. Lasher's pastor, Rev. John R. MacGorman, officiating. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, Arnold.

NEW KENSINGTON, Feb. 15 - Services for James H. Lasher, president of James H. Lasher & Sons real estate agency here, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Ross G. Walker Funeral Home, 217 Freeport Rd. Mr. Lasher, 84, of 249 Charles Ave., New Kensington, died yesterday at Citizens General Hospital. Mr. Lasher started his business here in 1916 and was responsible for several housing developments in the area. He was a member of the National Assn. of Realtors, the Pittsburgh and New Kensington Board of Realtors and the Pennsylvania and National insurance agencies. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Kensington and its board of deacons. He is survived by three sons, Homer S. Lasher, of Clarksburg, W. Va., and John T. and James E. Lasher; two daughters, Mrs. John A. Milldollar, of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Jessie R. Worley; four brothers, Loven L. Lasher of Anaheim, Calif., Dr. L. A. Lasher of Erie, and John H. and William C. Lasher; two sisters, Mrs. Minerva Shaffer and Mrs. Maude Bowser of Kittanning; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends are being received at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
