I’ve not heard back from you regarding the Military and War Project check-in so have gone ahead and removed you from the project for now. If you’d like to rejoin at any stage you would be most welcome to do so by answering the G2G sign-up post here.

Hi Mary,

Apologies for not responding in time to the recent check-in messages from the Military and War Project. I've been on a temporary hiatus due to personal commitments, so I haven't been able to actively participate recently. However, I appreciate your understanding and would like to express my continued interest in being part of the project, so I'll be sure to reapply using the G2G link you provided and re-engage with the project as soon as my schedule permits.

Best regards, Nic Land-3383

Dear Nic,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.

The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

There are currently three different Biography Teams - The Biography Team, the Abandoned Team, and the Popular Team.

You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team. The Biography Team works on profiles from their watchlist and other profiles that interest them. Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (You will need your Wiki ID for both). Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.

Sincerely,

Debi Hoag and Kay Knight, Co-Leaders, Profile Improvement Project

Hi Robin,

I'm ok with remaining as a biographer on the Profile Improvement Project (PIP) since that's where my focus is. I should be able to offer more assistance to the project once my schedule allows, and I've already bookmarked more than a few pages I'm looking to improve. Also, I'll be sure to join the Project Discord and Google Group once I return to my research.

Take care, Nic Land-3383

I sent you a check-in message a week ago about the Military and War Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have no yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project?

If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Hi Nic -

You certainly have a LOT of information on your family! I am genealogically inept, unfortunately. I do think I have figured out how you and I are related. Your 5th Great Grandmother, Priscilla Estes, is my 4th Great Grandmother's sister, Mary Estes. Which makes us 6th cousins?? Anyway, however we're related, it's nice reading your family line! x

Hi Stella, It's a pleasure to get in touch, and I appreciate your compliments on my work here on WikiTree. It's always fascinating to connect with relatives through shared ancestry. After seven years of research, I still stumble across new relatives I never knew I had, which is always interesting.

Regarding my 5th Great-Grandmother, Priscilla Estes, you are correct about our relation through Priscilla's sister, Mary Estes, making us 6th cousins 1x removed.

Priscilla's life certainly is intriguing, especially regarding her time spent living among the Shawnee Indians, where she learned of their customs, language, and medicine, eventually being adopted as one of their own. I would definitely recommend delving more into her story for a fascinating read.

Also, Feel free to reach out with any questions, and I'll be sure to respond whenever I'm available.

Hi Nic - Priscilla was the reason I got into genealogy when I did. She certainly lead an interesting life, to say the least!! There is also a story of one of our (?) Great Grandfathers/Uncle who froze to death trying to get back home. He was found sitting with his rifle in his lap. I'll have to look it up to see which one.

I will most certainly have questions for you! I'll try not to overwhelm you. lol

Thank you!

Hey Nic,

Nice to see you in the Notables Project and the United States Project! I used to be a Floridian too, haha! Plus, we are tenth cousins, that is pretty cool. I also have interest in U.S. Presidents and the Magna Carta. Just wanted to say hello!

Hey, Thank you for the warm welcome! It's always great to connect with someone who shares similar interests. I've been keen on joining the two projects for some time now, especially considering the deep roots my family has in America, which is why It's also interesting to see how we're related through a colonial ancestor from Virginia. haha

Hello Nic,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
