Biography

John was born in 1771. He was the son of John Gray and Sarah Mitchell.

John, the 10th of 13 children, was the son of Captain John Gray of North Yarmouth, Cumberland County, Maine, and Sarah Mitchell Gray of Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Like his father, John was a Captain in the military.

John married Joanna Drinkwater. They had seven children:
