Biography

Private Ozias Grant served with Lexington Alarm - April 1775, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.

Ozias Grant is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A047094.

Ozias Grant was born in East Windsor in 1733.

He married Lorana Strong, (1739-1817) in 1759 or 1761. This family resided at Windsor, then removed to Vernon, just south of Ellington, Connecticut.

Ozias Grant was a farmer; had grist & sawmills.

He was pressed (drafted) into the English army, & took part in the Quebec campaign.

He became a Minute Man, marching at the Lexington Alarm.

Per The Grant Family anthology, he was a large, stalwart man of simple & quaint manners, and given to queer speeches.

Ozias Grant died 22 May 1823 at Rockville, Connecticut.
